Life story!

I will share a little of my story, its long so I am going to try and give you the short version. Perhaps another time I will share the whole thing.

I am a Irish/Norwegian American Muslim.:) I grew up in the beautiful state of Minnesota, and no it doesn't snow year-round contrary to popular belief!
Prior to 1994 I didn't know there was such a thing as a Kurd or Kurdistan. Then that summer I met some Kurds at a summer school in Fargo where I lived. I was immediately drawn to them. I spent much of that next year getting to know Kurds in the area. My intention at the time was to bring these sweet people to Jesus. You see I was a highly involved member of my Evangelical Free Church. I even had gone on mission trips to Mexico.

Along the way however I was given a Qur'an. I read it In the hopes of having more points to argue, you see I was a great debater and still to this day can win almost every argument. In the end, I was changed by it. Slowly the truth of what I was reading seeped into my soul. Until one Sunday in church I was singing a duet with a friend. We were singing a Michael W. Smith song "Roaming thru this World to find my place in this world..." And when I got to that line a tear ran down my cheek and I just knew. I knew Islam was the truth and could no longer deny it or hesitate in giving up myChristian beliefs.
So suffice to say I gave up my efforts to convert them, and instead I spent more and more time with the Kurdish people I knew to learnmore about Islam. I soon feel in love with the Kurds from their spirit, and anyone who has spent any time with Kurds will know what I mean. And it wasn't too long after that that I fell for A Kurd.

He and Iboth graduated in 1996 and got married. 10 days later we moved down here with the rest of his uncles and their families, a caravan literally, down to Nashville. While I still don’t know if I love Nashville as much as up north, I have found many things I enjoy here. Especially the large Kurdish population and all the activities that happen because of that.
I graduated from TSU in 2002 with a degree in Journalism and do freelance writing in my spare time. I also love doing dawah work with the mosques and working with the youth.
Besides that, I am a FULL time momma to 4 boys...Salih, Bilal, Mu'min and Shaan.

I had been trying to figure one of those word scrambles for days...some days I was too late to answer it and some days I didn't have time...but I am online frequently so it was a matter of time till I got one. I lucked out the other day cause it was only a couple minutes after it was posted that I saw it and it was so easy cause there was even a dot in the scramble and I looked at it and knew it was nashvillekurds.com.
